ACV-Not Just For Salad Dressing

5 Ways to Use ACV Around the House

When we think of apple cider vinegar usually salad dressing is what comes to mind. If someone said, “name 5 things ACV can be used for”. Drain cleaner would not even make the top 10.

Today I will share with you 5 ways to use ACV around your house. None of these involve drinking or eating it.

  1. ACV makes a great glass cleaner. A cup of ACV, 2 cups of water, 6 drops of grapefruit extract or lemon extract. Pour it in a spray bottle and clean any of your glass surfaces.
  2. Fresh fruit and vegetables often create fruit flies. Here in warmer climates, it happens pretty quickly. A bit of ACV and a few drops of dish soap in a vented container will help get rid of these pests. The fruit flies are attracted to the ACV and the soap traps them in the mix. I recommend using a disposable container, a water bottle or something, so there isn’t anything to clean up.
  3. Wood cabinets, especially those in a kitchen are abused daily. They absorb odors and stains and are constantly being wiped and touched. Many cleaning products strip the wood of its oils and it becomes dry. Some put a shine on it but do not actually clean it. They also can get very expensive. Get great results with just 4Tbsps of ACV, 2Tbsps of Olive Oil, and 2 cups of water. Replenishing the wood, cleaning and removing odors.
  4. Many household cleaning products will dull and tarnish gold jewelry. Soak your gold jewelry in ACV for about 20 minutes, then dry with a soft cloth. Putting a shine back on your jewelry, without the expensive and toxic jewelry cleaner.
  5. No, I wasn’t joking about it being a drain cleaner. Pour a 1/4 cup baking soda then a cup ACV. The mixture will foam, when the foaming stops follow with hot water.

Apple cider vinegar is a common, all-natural product that is safe to use for many purposes around the house. Check back for more ACV uses inside and outside of the home.
